Anxiety attacks are common when you are at the wheel and have been known to cause accidents. Take control of your emotions. The way you feel can often cause anxiety. Once you have the discipline to control your emotions, you can rid yourself of anxiety. You may have to learn to emotionally detach yourself from feelings to gain control of your emotions and eliminate anxiety for good. Meditate in the morning. Every morning, take fifteen minutes for yourself. Find a comfortable chair and close your eyes. Try to concentrate on a relaxing image, such as a peaceful scene, or the face of a loved one. If intrusive thoughts start to enter your head, repeat a mantra over and over, such as "I am relaxed". If you suffer from anxiety, try your best to quit smoking, as soon as possible. Smoking reduces the functionality of many different organs in your body, putting you in a position where you may be more stressed than usual. Quitting smoking can refresh your body and increase your overall outlook on life. When you feel your anxiety coming to a head, you can help get the feelings of worry under control by controlling your breathing. When you are anxious, your breathing rate increases, which itself, can cause a heightened sense of fear. Breathe in and out slowly, counting to four on each inhale and exhale. In addition to slowing down your breathing, it also gives you something to focus on besides the source of your anxiety. It is important to accept that there are things in life that you cannot control. Worrying about every possible thing that could go wrong in your life will not keep bad events from happening. Actually, this will prevent you from appreciating the positive things. Just learn to accept uncertainty itself and learn to not need instant solutions to the problems in your life. At times you will find yourself in different positions during a panic attack. If you have an anxiety attack, do whatever you can do in order to keep you distracted. Count down from 100, do math problems in your head, talk about good times you've had recently, and anything else that you can think of that could distract you in a positive manner. Exercising can be very helpful in beating anxiety. Not only is it good for your physical being, but it is good for the mind as well, since you will not be focusing on your stress and anxiety. It is always a good idea to talk about your problems when the need arises. The only exception to this is, when you are having an anxiety attack. This can be absolutely devastating to your chances of coming out of the anxiety attack in a healthy manner. Make sure you remain positive during any anxiety attacks. Try to develop healthier eating habits. Begin your day the right way by eating some breakfast, then keep going with small, frequent meals throughout your day. Going without eating for too long during the day can cause your blood sugar to lower, which can make you feel much more anxious. Reward yourself, if you do things that have a positive impact on your life, in your work or someone else's life. Giving yourself the proper acknowledgement for minor accomplishments will lead to greater success in your life. When you begin to see the positives about yourself, you begin to diminish the negatives. Keep a log or a journal to try to figure out what your triggers are. Once you have the triggers mapped out, you will have a better idea of what you can do to reduce the anxiety that you feel in the different situations. Each situation may require a different management technique. Learn to accept your failings. You are not a superhero. You cannot save the world, nor does the world expect that of you. You may feel that your personal issues are world-altering; however, the reality is, they are simply obstacles to overcome. Realize that you are not expected to be perfect and have all the answers; you are only human. Although many people suffer from anxiety because of the stress of living, some people have a genetic predisposition for this problem. If this might be the case, then a visit to the psychologist and a prescription may be in order. Do not watch television news. Just turn the television off if you get anxious watching daily news of murder, shootings, car crashes, and thefts! News reports put a focus on stories like that, because they are attention grabbers.
